July 12 09:36 2020

A foremost Investigative Sports Journalist Aderonke Ogunleye-Bello has advised the NFF to always engage the services of female coaches for all the Female National Teams in the country.

Aderonke who is the Chief Executive Officer of a Women Advocacy Group, Fame Foundation spoke on a virtual interview with a foremost WhatsApp platform FCT Football Update, said the female players perform better under the female coaches, and behave well also. She said the female coaches are more firm while dealing with the players.

She was very optimistic that the country is blessed with good and qualified female coaches that can always stand out if given the opportunity “we have very qualified female coaches, I continue to wonder why the NFF will continue to appoint male coaches ahead of the ladies. This is not good, the women should be supported. They should be empowered and encouraged. They will not disappoint” she assured.

Continuing, Aderonke who is a Special Assistant to the FCT Minister of State said ” female footballers are been cheated, the female coaches are also been cheated out of the jobs that should be given to them. I don’t know why Male coaches continue to lobby to handle the female teams, they should concentrate on handling the male teams. It will not be out of place if the NFF appoint a Female Coach to be Assistant to any of the male national teams also”.

She finally appealed for the private sector participation in the development of Female Football in the country.
