NPFL 2020/2021: Abia Warriors Unveils Obioma As Their 9th Sign On

Abia Warriors FC of Umuahia has signed Obioma Chukwuemeka from Heartland FC of Owerri on a season long deal.

The power playing striker therefore becomes the 9th player that the Umuahia Warriors will unveil in preparation for the new season. The player who scored six goals for Heartland FC last season was adjudged the best having scored that number from 11 matches he featured before the league ended the abruptly in Week 25 due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Obioma started his career with Abia comets. He went on to join Enyimba fc, where he made couple of appearances before teaming up with Heartland of Owerri

Abia Warriors Sporting Director, Patrick Ngwaogu, said: “We’re very pleased to welcome Obioma to our squad. We have been monitoring him for some time and from the analysis, he has strong attributes that we look for in a striker and as a person.”

“We want to create healthy competition for places and we look forward to seeing Obioma bring further depth to the striking position.”

Chukwuemeka made headlines last season when he struck twice against his former clubside (Enyimba FC) in ABA which ensured Heartland FC a big win against Africa two time champions in Aba.
