Match Fixing : NLO Hammer Falls On Cofine FC ;Team Thrown Out of Tournament, Coach Ban 2 Years

Following the earlier report on Monday 15 March, 2021 by on alleged match fixing moves involving Cofine FC in the ongoing 2021 NLO in Calabar zone, the Secretariat of the NLO has acted swiftly by setting up a disciplinary committee in the zone to ascertain the extent of the allegations.

In a circular dated 15 March, and addressed to the concerned parties, and host FA, the Nationwide League One Secretariat acknowledged the receipt of the report and decision of the panel set up by
Nationwide League One at the Calabar Centre and Consequently, sees the allegations of match fixing against Coach Remmy Amadi of
COFINE FC as a very grievous offence which can bring the game to disrepute.

The NLO therefore invoke the relevant rules of the tournament, which applied as thus:
● A Fine of 500, 000.00 is hereby imposed on the COFINE FC Rivers State
● All the results of the matches played by COFINE FC during this ongoing 2021 NLO season are hereby cancelled, it is assumed that all previous matches played were through match fixing.
● Coach Remmy Amadi the masterminder of the act is hereby banned for a period of two (2) years.

The NLO Secretariat however informed that the decision is an interim decision and shall be forwarded to the NFF integrity/match fixing Unit for further
sanctions as the unit deemed fit.

The Nationwide League One also warned clubs to desist from desperate moves to qualify, insisting that they will not tolerate any act of misconduct before, during and
after every game.
