Enyimba,Abia Warriors Clash :Two Coaches Seeking Redemption

February 09 08:53 2020

Enyimba International and its city neighbours Abia Warriors will rekindle their rivalry as both Abia state Premier league clubs trade tackles in one of Matchday 19 fixtures at the Enyimba Stadium, Aba.

The ‘Abia Derby’ is regarded as one of  the most entertaining and explosive Derby matches in the NPFL owing to the good show of Fotball artistry, and how both teams and fans comport themselves in the game.

The People’s Elephant shifted their focus to the Nigeria Professional League after booking a place in the Quater Finals of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Fatai Osho tutored side recorded a win away from home in the league as Striker Abdurahman Bashir goal was all the ‘Aba Elephants’ needed to annex all three points against Mountain On Fire Miracles (MFM) in one of Matchday 4 resheducled matches.

The Umuahia Warlords still failed in their quest for a win away from home as Nasarawa United came from behind to beat 3.1) at the Lafia township stadium on Matchday 18.

However, the two coaches will be seeking redemption knowing that a loss by either of them might see them loosing their jobs or putting more pressure on them

Since taken over at Enyimba,Fatai Osho has been able to introduce its attacking philosophy and (1,2 touch) style of football which he is noted for and it has helped Enyimba on the continent but in the league it has really been tough especially when you get to play on an uneven pitch.

A loss at home to Heartland and Ifeanyi Ubah in Nnewi has not really helped his plight despite impressive performance on the continent which has seen Enyimba scored 10 goals in three matches despite that he is under intensive pressure to deliver in the league

While his neighbour, Abia Warriors are not faring better, back to back losses has put strain on the relationship between the management and the coaching crew which has put the coach under pressure to deliver in Aba which might an herculean task but a loss for Emmanuel Deutsch side might seen the coach being shown an exit door,so the die is cast.

Enyimba International Coach Fatai Osho ahead of the clash was handed a big boost as the Skipper Ifeanyi Anemena returned to full fitness as he was in action against MFM at the midweek.

Abia Warriors are handed a big boost with the return of Goalkeeper  Godsgift Elkanah who has been sidelined with an ankle injury.

Enyimba with the win against MFM last week, will restore the confidence of the Aba based team as they struggled through the group stage of CAF Confederation Cup and now concentrate in the league.

Abia Warriors has manage to keep their home records straight as they are the only team yet to loose at home.

The Umuahia Warlords away form this season has not been the best, but no team can under rate them. They are known for their unexpected surprises.

Enyimba International Austin Oladepo, Stanley Dimgba,Cyril Olisema and Victor Mbaoma will pose lots of threats for the visiting Abia Warriors, with their terrific forms.

Abia Warriors trio of Midfield Danjuma Jamilu, Okon Otop and Bello Lukman will surely be a handful for the home team.
The players on a good day, can cause discomfort against any team with their sleeky movements and quick feets.

Enyimba’s Abiodun Adebayor, Obi Samson and Emeka Atulomah had once plied their trades with the Umuahia Warlords and were in super form while with the Umuahia based club.

Abia Warriors Philip Auta and Anozie Ugochukwu are the two players in the camp of the Umuahia Warlords that had once adorn the Jersey of the Aba Elephants.
