The Chairman of the League Management Company, Mallam Shehu Dikko has disproved an online report making the rounds that decisions are being made to complete the Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL, season in China, exclusivenews.com.ng reports.

The NPFL went on an emergency break following the suspension of all football activities in the country by the Nigeria Football Federation, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dikko, who doubles as the second Vice President of the NFF, stated that such idea has never been brought forward by any of the parties during the series of meetings held before now, adding that it is not feasible both financially and otherwise.

“That news is absolutely fake, and should be disregarded in its entirety, said the LMC boss, and member of FIFA Football Stakeholders Committee.

“To think that all 20 premier league clubs will be taken Asia to conclude the season, is really not ideal financially.

“The Federal Government has also just extended the ban on air travels, both local and International by another four weeks, so I wonder where such decision came from.

With about 13 Match Days to conclude the current season, Jos based side, Plateau United FC, lead with 49 points from 25 matches, while Rivers United and Lobi Stars FC lead the chasing pack.

However, Enyimba Int’l with 36 points, have played five matches less than the other teams in the group, and Dikko, who is also a member of CAF inter-club Committee, maintains that the stakeholders have agreed that the league be concluded under the current circumstances.

“The LMC and the clubs along with other stakeholders have agreed that the current NPFL season be completed, he said.

“While we wait for the Government and other relevant authorities for the all clear to resume, we’re also weighing various options at our disposal, concluded Dikko.
