Chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) FCT chapter Comrade Ndubueze Chidoka has beckoned Journalists to undergo regular medical checks to avoid any unforeseen non-healthy occurrences.

Comrade Chidoka who spoke on the sideline of the just concluded football for healthy living game between   SWAN FCT and Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) in Abuja, said the easiest way to avoid untimely death was for Journalists to take their health seriously.

The SWAN Leader within the Nation’s capital was emphatic that the football friendly outing tagged “friendly match for healthy living” was borne out of SWAN FCT leadership to arrest the prevalent heart diseases among Nigerians inclduing journalists.

He assured that henceforth regular sporting and keep fit programmes would be sustained as a way of creating needed awareness geared towards encouraging members to live right.

“Our work and that of those in the Nollywood industry appear similar in the area of engagement and regular interface with the public. Due to the demand of the jobs, many tend to forget that health is first in whatever we do.

“So, I’m using this opportunity to call on Journalists especially those who write or report sports to engage in regular health checks and physical exercise. We shouldn’t forget the popular saying that health is wealth,” Comrade Chidoka who is also an ace broadcaster said.

Comrade Chidoka also expressed special appreciation to the FCT Football Association Chairman Alhaji Mohammed Adam Mouktar for his assistance in the football and health exercise.

Over 45 persons took part at the BP and Sugar tests conducted at the Area 3 football Pitch in Abuja, venue of the friendly match.

Recall that SWAN FCT defeated members of AGN 4-1 during the football tie that left Shalom Chickky, an AGN player injured. He was immediately taken to hospital.

Afterwards, a delegation led by Comrade Chidoka alonside other exco members including Secretary Ikenna Okonkwo, Treasurer Salifu Usman and Financial Secretary Joel Ajayi visited him at his residence later on.
